Uploader allows making panels and buttons invisible. As a result we leave only the upload pane with drag-and-drop area (which becomes very important, so we improve the "drop files here" element) and a couple of external links to open a file/folder open dialog (folders work in Chrome only). The upload starts immediately after you put files into the uploader.
